Published January 2, 2025 · 3 min read

🎒

A little preparation goes a long way when it comes to indoor playground visits. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned pro, having the right stuff with you can make the difference between a smooth, enjoyable outing and a stressful scramble.

Here's everything you need to know—and bring—for a successful trip to the indoor playground.

The Essentials

🧦 Must-Haves

  • Socks for everyone - Most indoor playgrounds (including The Play Station) require socks for hygiene and safety. Bring extras in case someone's get lost or dirty!
  • Comfortable clothes - Kids should wear clothes they can move freely in. Skip the fancy outfits—they're going to climb, slide, and tumble.
  • Water bottles - Playing is thirsty work! Bring refillable bottles to keep everyone hydrated.
  • A change of clothes - Especially for younger kids. Accidents happen, and sweaty clothes aren't fun to ride home in.

Food & Snacks

One of the best things about The Play Station is that you can bring your own food. Take advantage of it!

🍎 Food Suggestions

  • Pack a lunch - Sandwiches, wraps, or whatever your kids love. No need to buy overpriced concession food.
  • Healthy snacks - Fruit, crackers, cheese sticks, veggie sticks. Easy to eat between play sessions.
  • Treats - A little something special makes the outing feel like an event.
  • Your coffee - Seriously, grab a coffee on the way. You deserve it while the kids play.

Entertainment for Parents

While the kids are busy playing, you might actually get some downtime. Be prepared!

📱 For You

  • Phone charger - You'll probably want to take photos and videos. Keep that battery going.
  • A book or magazine - Revolutionary concept: reading for pleasure while kids play!
  • Laptop or tablet - If you need to catch up on work, free WiFi is available.
  • Headphones - For calls, podcasts, or just some peace.

For Younger Kids

If you're bringing babies or toddlers, add these to your list:

👶 For Little Ones

  • Diapers and wipes - Always more than you think you need.
  • Extra socks - Toddler socks have a way of disappearing.
  • Comfort item - A favorite stuffed animal for when they need a break.
  • Baby food/bottles - If your little one needs to eat.

What to Leave at Home

Some things are better left behind:

  • Expensive jewelry or watches - They can get lost or broken.
  • Nice shoes - You'll be taking them off anyway (socks required in play areas).
  • Valuables - While theft is rare, why take the risk?
  • Negative attitudes - Leave stress at the door. This is fun time!

Pro Tips from Playground Regulars

  1. Arrive early - Beat the crowds and get the most play time.
  2. Dress in layers - Playgrounds can be warm with all that activity.
  3. Bring a bag - Something to corral all the shoes and jackets.
  4. Set expectations - Talk about rules and behavior before you arrive.
  5. Plan your exit - "10 more minutes" warnings help avoid meltdowns.
